Comprehensive Addiction Treatment and Recovery at the Addiction Recovery Center

Our team consists of Addiction Medicine and Behavioral Health experts committed to providing a “whole person approach” to treatment of Substance Use Disorders, thus saving lives. We operate within the standards of SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental health Services Administration) providing medications in combination with behavioral therapy. Medications used in MAT (Medication Assisted Treatment) are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and our program is clinically driven and tailored to meet each patient’s needs. Research shows a combination of medication and therapy can successfully treat Substance Use Disorder and for some struggling with addiction, MAT can help sustain recovery.

We are located in Williamsburg, Virginia, serving the Greater Williamsburg area, York County, James City County, Gloucester County, New Kent County, Charles City County and beyond …. We ae committed to an evidence-based, organized, system-wide response to the disease of addiction. Our medical director and co-founder, Dr. Douglas A. Brown is Board Certified in Family Medicine, specializing in Addiction Medicine with greater than 15 years of experience. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and will be sitting for the Addiction Boards this fall. Dr. Brown most recently completed a one year followship at the University of California — Irvine for Primary Care Psychiatry.

Dr. Brown is involved with the American Academy of Addiction Medicine; he currently sits on sub¬committee for Level of Care. Also, Dr. Brown is involved in the State Chapter of Academy of Addiction Medicine as the Chair of Political Affairs.

Addiction Recovery Center of Virginia offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to every individual that we serve by drawing on the expertise of an array of experienced addiction counselors and therapists. Addiction Recovery Center of Virginia is proud to be involved and utilizing Peer Recovery Coaches as personal patient helpers, guides, teachers and care navigators.
